Why is my furnace short-cycling?
Usually one of: dirty flame sensor, overheated heat exchanger (restricted airflow), failing high-limit switch, or oversized for the duct system. Each has a distinct diagnostic signature.Should I be worried about carbon monoxide?
We take a CO reading at the supply register on every furnace service call. Properly tuned furnaces measure under 9 ppm; anything above 35 ppm gets the system tagged out until we resolve it.How long do furnaces last?
Modern 95% AFUE furnaces installed and maintained correctly run 18-25 years. Annual tune-ups and a clean filter regimen are the biggest determinants.
